Sunday, Bloody Sunday: WWE Released Darren Young

While Sunday’s are supposed to be a day of rest, it looks like there’s no rest for the wicked. The WWE announced Sunday afternoon that they not only released Emma, but they future endeavored Summer Rae and Darren Young.

“WWE has come to terms on the releases of WWE Superstars Emma, Darren Young and Summer Rae,” their statement read. “WWE wishes them the best in all of their future endeavors.”

Damn, Darren.

Because of who we are, the Darren Young release might be the wackest news to hear. It’d been almost two years since he’d teamed with Titus O’Neil as the Prime Time Players. He’d been paired with legend Bob Backlund on some MAGA shit for a time, but had been out for the majority of 2017 with an arm injury.

His time with Titus was probably his greatest, netting him one WWE Tag Team Championship run, but it also should be remembered that he was an initial member of The Nexus back in 2010. He’s also the first professional wrestler to come out as gay while signed to a major promotion.

Here are some highlights from Young’s career; hopefully we’ll see him continue to progress in the squared circle.
