At AEW Full Gear 2019, Cody lost to Chris Jericho due to MJF throwing in the towel. The stipulation of the match was that if Cody lost, he would not be able to challenge for the AEW World Heavyweight title ever again. At AEW Revolution 2020, MJF defeated Cody in a regular match.
