Ricky Saints wins NXT Championship

Tonight, in the main event of NXT No Mercy, Ricky Saints (No. 26 on the 2025 #BRP50) did the unthinkable, pinning Oba Femi (No. 1 on the 2025 #BRP50) and ending Femi’s 263-day reign as NXT Champion.

It was a strong main event, with Ricky taking the action to Oba, who somehow came up short after such a dominant reign. Saints is barely into his first year in NXT and has already won the NXT North American Championship and now the NXT Championship; it’s also an interesting time to be NXT Champion.

The Invasion

After the TNA roster ran in on this past Tuesday’s NXT main event, Ava and Santino Marella have booked a NXT-TNA special on October 7 titled Invasion, which will see both brands battling for brand supremacy. Ricky Saints will no doubt be invovled somehow, but that information may be given this Tuesday on NXT.

What about Oba Femi?

Speaking of this Tuesday, Femi was booked in a rematch with current TNA World Champion Trick Williams in a winner takes all bout, this time with no interference. We’d assume it’s now just for the TNA title? And does this mean the winner of this bout may face Ricky Saints at Invasion the week after? Guess you will have to tap into NXT on Tuesday to find out.

Oh, and before I let you go…wanna know when I knew Ricky may take that title? After watching this hometown hero hype video for the fourth time. They know what they are doing!

For now? Let’s relive Ricky Saints vs. Oba Femi. We will have more on this development on the Black Rasslin’ Podcast!
